History
The Municipality of Corcuera is a fourth class municipality in the province of Romblon, Philippines. According to the 2015 census, it has a population of 22,992 people.
The town was named after General Diego de Losada y Cerda, who was born in Coruña, Galicia, Spain. He was the founder and first governor of the city of Santiago de Los Caballeros de Guatemala.
In 1853, the town was created by royal decree. It was originally part of the municipality of Banton.
Corcuera is located at the northeastern tip of Romblon Island. It is bounded by Concepcion on the north, Magdiwang on the south and east, and Tablas Strait on the west.
